Party Planning Basics
During the planning of my birthday party to try to figure out the best way to have a rockin’ 40th, I realize how very daunting and time consuming and fun it can be all at the same time. Coming from a big family, parties are in my blood. We went to them or had them almost every weekend for a fair amount of my life. And I would not change that for the world. It has provided me with a lifetime of memories and some knowledge about what I like and do not like regarding parties and overall planning strategies that I am excited to share. Here is the formula…

Fireworks and Fun in the CLE!
For the longest time, the Fourth of July was my absolute favorite holiday! Remember the days of Edgewater Park Fireworks in Cleveland? Those are the days I am referring to. My aunt lived in walking distance from Edgewater Beach so most of my aunts, uncles and cousins would go hang out at her house all day. We enjoyed outdoor fun, yummy cookout food and most importantly spending time with our ginormous family! Everyone on the street seemed to know each other and we would jump around to different people’s houses to take in their celebrations. Oh the advantages of being in a close knit neighborhood. I guess you could say…

SUMMER FUN – Bucket List
Growing up we had a 4 foot above ground pool that we spent A LOT of our time in. It was great because it gave us a reason to hang out with friends and relax outside without the horror of the heat. The opening of that pool signified summer was here. (well that and the first time of the season that I heard Wills Smith’s Summertime on the radio). I have so many fond memories from those days. It was by far my favorite summer activity. I no longer have a pool but there are plenty of other things that I feel like I need to do. Otherwise I don’t…

I turned the big 4-0!
This week was my super fab 40th birthday and it was awesome! I really try to take the time to feel special on my day! And here is how I did it.. First Things First I wake up early so that I could get myself all dolled up for the special occasion. I am not normally much for putting time into how I look. Mostly I look like a hot mess. But as of late, I have made more of an effort for a few reasons. I have found procucts that I like When I take that little extra time to look good, I feel good so too, imagine that.…

My Ramblings on Dear Evan Hanson
Holy Smokes…..I freaking loved this show! Let me start off by saying, I knew little to none about this show except that it did very well on Broadway. I really thought it was just another coming of age show that would be mediocre. BOY WAS I WRONG! Let’s Discuss My Night At the Theater…. First, we had to switch our days and seats around. We are season ticket holders for the Playhouse Square Broadway Series. Normally we are in the bleeders but not this time folks. We had fourth row seats in stage right with the inside aisle…EEK! The only time I have every had this good of seats for…

Let The Celebrating Begin
This is go time! Birthday week has commenced. In just 4 days I will be the Big 4-0 and I am going to celebrate all week long! When I was younger I had the absolute best birthdays! My mom always made them special. And having a summer birthday made it even better. Up until about my 30th birthday, I would celebrate all week anyway that I could – sleepovers, parties, Indians games, dinner show, night at the bar with friends and family. As I have grown older honoring the day of my birth has become a little lack luster. Although I normally take vacation the week of my birthday, try…

Year of Forty!l
Does this sound like your current situation? During the week you head into work after getting the kids off to school, put in your 8-12 hours, fight the traffic to get home at a decent time for dinner, spend the little bit of time you have left catching up on your DVR that has accumulated a sufficient amount of shows that you will NEVER be able to watch, check out your social media accounts just before falling asleep, and then wake up and do it all over again. Now comes the weekend. WOHOO! Except, you realize that you have at least 4 loads of laundry to do, the house looks…

Celebrating Your Fabulous 40!
All right so now that we have chosen our Theme for the YEAR of 40, let’s move on to how the heck are we going to celebrate it?! If you do not have a theme for the year, check out this post. First I think we should acknowledge that there are different schools of thought about making the plunge into 40’s. This is important because it will help determine the best way to spend your birthday so lets talk about these mindsets of celebrating. Everyone fits into one of these categories: **There is the “We don’t talk about it” person. I don’t want to be 40, don’t want to think…

“Theming In” Your New Birth Year
New Years eve isn’t the only time you can “Ring in the New Year”! Why not do it for your birthday? And I am not talking about how you celebrate your birthday. Although, not going to lie, champagne, party spinners, gold, black and silver decorations and the swankiest food sounds pretty fabulous! But I digress. I am referring to how you APPROACH this #yearofforty for its duration. (Or any birth year for that matter). Just before New Year’s we make resolutions and set goals for the year. Why not just apply that concept to your celebration of another year of life. But snazz it up a bit. I mean this…

Welcome World!
Today I am officially starting my Mid Life Crisis, I mean blog! LOL This is exciting, scary and hysterical all at once! HYSTERICAL because my whole academic career (although a long time gone), I made it a point not to write. I got out of the most intense writing class in high school, took classes in college based on the amount of writing needed , decided NOT to go to graduate school because the thought of having to write a dissertation gave me immediate heart palpitations. SCARY because, well HELLO, putting myself out there for the whole world to see and judge. I have spent almost my whole life living…
