14 Fun & Fab Spring Break At Home Ideas
Can you believe it is already time for Spring Break!?!? With the growing panic about the Coronavirus, many people are concerned about going to crowded places with their family. If that is you, and, you are not really feeling the whole going out and being exposed, then read on so you can still enjoy the time off with your kids! I have compiled a list of 14 super fun and fab ways to enjoy Spring Break with your family and not have to worry about those pesky germs!
Keep in mind many of these can be as simple or complex as you want them to be!
1. MOVIE MARATHON
Bring the theater to you! First you need to pick the movies. Then set the mood. And DO NOT forget the snacks! There is a TON of ways to make this be a fun and exciting event!
We often have family movies nights. It is actually a little tradition that we started the kids love! Our favorite is to turn off all the lights in the house and leave on the “movie lights”. This is just blue Christmas type lights strung around our family room that we leave up year round. We also HAVE to have our movie snacks! We buy Snowcaps on Amazon and snag candy deals in the big boxes you would find at a theater when they are on sale.
But the most exciting part is making fresh popcorn in our bigger carnival type popcorn machine. I highly recommend grabbing one. My husband bought me this one years back and we use it EVERY weekend and for every party. It is one of the most used gifts I have recieved and it has paid for itself in spades. If your are addicted to movie popcorn, this is for you!
You can also set up your movie on a projector screen if you have the proper space inside. Maybe even set it up outside.
Why not pick a theme based around a movie series and dress the part and create snacks based on that theme! Theme ideas: Lord of the Rings, Disney, Marvel characters, Adam Sandler movies, Star Wars, the list is endless!
2. Game Day! Board Games Edition!
I LOVE playing games! Our game shelves are well stocked for any occasion. Games are such a fun way to spend time and learn about your tribe. Pick out a few games to play. Set up the table with snacks and beverages. And let the games begin! You can even make it a tournament and get creative about what the winner(s) will receive (a pass on one of thier chores perhaps)! Some great family friendly games are: Charades, Heads Up, Trouble, Jenga and Monopoly. But their are plenty others!
3. Game Day! Minute to Win It Edition!
Let out that inner child. Plus it is so fun for your kids to see their parents being silly. There are so many ideas on Pinterest and many of these can be made from items you already have in your home. A fan favorite is the one where you shake the balls out of a tissue box! So much of the laughing will be had with these games!
4. PICNIC
If the weather is nice enough, why not head our to the yard and have a picnic? You could do the whole legit style picnic. Make some killer sandwiches, add some great snacks and fill a thermos with lemonade or iced tea and you are all set. If you want to add to the fun, grab a frisbee, croquet set, soccer ball, nerf gun or whatever other outdoor games you have around to spend a little extra quality time together! Challenge: Try to make it a point NOT to go into the house.
5. Fun With Cooking
Get fancy or keep it simple with a family cooking night! First decide on a meal. You can assign a different section to each member to pick out ie. Son picks the main, mom picks the side, daughter picks the desert, dad picks the veggie, etc. Then work as a family to make an all star meal. Break out the fancy dishes!
If you don’t want to get all crazy with a bunch of different components, make pizzas! Everyone can add the toppings they like and pizzas are so fun! Your children will remember it. I know I remember the times we cooked together and they sit with many of my other favorite childhood memories.
6. Bake off!
Learn a new recipe or share a family recipe with your kids. This is an amazing bonding experience. Memories are always attached to the smell of fresh bakery. It can stick with you your whole life. So if you are sharing a family recipe make sure to tell some of your history. Most kids are curious and love to hear about thier grandparents or aunts and uncles or even the time that you did something wild!
7. Art show!
Pick an art form for everyone to create. Maybe try painting or drawing the same thing and then show it off. There are so many videos out there now that let give you step by step instructions to make your own masterpiece! You should see all of the amazing cartoon characters my kids have made from these videos! 😊
You can ask the kids to make some extra items and turn your home into a museum! You could even take it one step further and “purchase” their art using some monopoly money after creating a gala!
8. Spa Day!
I don’t care who you are, everyone benefits from a little pampering! So why not relax and spoil yourselves. Give eachother mani/pedis. Add a mini facial. Go all out by setting the mood! Put out your scented flame or flameless candles, turn on the relaxing new age music like Enya and set out some tea sandwiches, fresh fruit and juices or mint water to really make it special.
9. Dance Party!
Dance til you drop! See who can boogie around the longest. Or learn a new style of dance. Teach your kids some of your old moves (maybe the roger rabbit or the running man😜) and let them teach you theirs! This is a perfect and fun excercise for everyone!
10. Puzzles
Find a fabulous or beautiful 1000 or 10,000 piece jigsaw puzzle you would love to put together. This is a great way to excersise their minds! And it is super rewarding when it is finished. Just flip a coin to see who gets to put in the last piece.
If you don’t care for jigsaw puzzles, you could always do create an escape room or scavenger hunt to get them thinking! If you are more creative, this could be super fun!
11. Sports Tournament
Create your own bowling alley! Find a ball, make lanes out of pool noodles or something you have hanging around that is long and straight ( ie. brooms) and find something to use as the pins. Game on!
12. Fashion show
All the divas can get into this! Make a runway with a fun backdrop. You can use a sheet for this. Find some super cute outfits get dressed up and jewelry. Then add a little makeup. Take tons of photos and be silly while your kids take the carpet by storm!
13. Science experiments
I won’t lie, science is not my area of expertise but these are so many fun and cool experiments that are out there both complex and simple! Making volcanoes, rockets, and so much more. If you look up STEM projects you can find a fun to do! Let the kids pick and work together to create. Here is another way to sneak some of that learning in over Spring Break. It will be our little secret!
14. Talent show
Everyone has a talent. Why not let them show it off in a talent show? This was one of my very favorite family events. Coming up with a dance with my sisters and performing it. Telling jokes. Singing a song. There are so many talents and your kids are often waiting for a reason to show it off!
Just Engage
At the end of the day, Spring Break is the perfect time and reason to create everlasting moments with your children. You are really only limited by your imagination and when that slows you done, check out Pinterest to help you find or create just what you are looking for.
Almost all of these are can range on the scale of involvement and difficulty. Just as long as you set aside some time to make memories with your family and make them the priority, everyone wins! And will be talking about it for years to come.
If you like these fun Spring Break ideas to do at home, please share them on facebook or pinterest and drop a comment to tell me what you plan to do.

Woah! I’m really digging the template/theme of this site. It’s
simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s challenging to get that “perfect balance” between user friendliness and appearance.
I must say you’ve done a great job with this. Additionally, the blog loads very quick for me on Firefox.
Superb Blog!

Heya this is kind of of off topic but I was wanting to know if blogs use
WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML.
I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding skills so
I wanted to get guidance from someone with experience.
Any help would be enormously appreciated!
